Onggi Workshop 3 days
Onggi Workshop 3 days
Learn the Korean Onggi technique with the well-renowned Kwak Kyungtae and his apprentice Marco Minetti.
We will teach the Korean Onggi, which is a unique process of making a base, coils, and using wooden tools to paddle and form a large jar in a very efficient way.
Beginners are welcome. Even experienced throwers will be total beginners when it comes to onggi the methods are quite unique and different. This helps to level the playing field and makes for a welcoming atmosphere rather than a competitive one.
This is a technique focused "process oriented" course and not a fired object focus. Students often enjoy this aspect as it takes the pressure off making and they really lose themselves in the methods and engage fully.
Participants are advised to keep no more than 1 piece.
We will provide 15 sets wooden onggi tools to be used by the participants.
We are also offering sets of Korean handmade wooden tools (4 wooden tools, 2 metal tools) that can be purchased in advance while registering at the workshop.
Timings: 10:30 am to 5:30pm every day, lunch break at 12:30 for 1 hour served by the studio. Snacks, tea and coffee will be served at all times, for those who wish to have a break.
